PHS’s Laneigh Clark inducted into Texas Girls Coaches Hall of Fame

Laneigh Clark       Pearland High School’s Girls Athletic Coordinator and softball head coach Laneigh Clark was recently inducted into the Texas Girls Coaches Association Hall of Fame, being recognized for her 34 years of dedication to coaching young female athletes.

       A coach at PHS since 1998, Clark led the softball Lady Oilers through winning nine district championships and eight other times as runner uppers. Additionally, during her tenure, the Pearland Lady Oilers reached the state tournament on four occasions: 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2016.

       Coach Clark has served on many different committees for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, including serving as the organization's High School representative. She has also coached NFCA All-Americans and Academic All- Americans, as well as NCAA Academic All-Americans. In addition to receiving awards at the national level, players at Pearland HS have been honored with more than 100 state awards, including TGCA All-State, TGCA Academic All-State, TSWA All-State and TGCA All-Stars in her tenure at Pearland.

       A passionate and experienced coach, Clark has received multiple awards in recognition of her outstanding work and dedication, including – but not limited to – being named the District Coach of the Year nine times, Texas Girls Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2009, 2011and 2016, 2010 Pearland Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year and 2011 Citizen of the Year Congressional Award recipient. In addition to her individual honors, the coaching staff at Pearland High School has received the National Fastpitch Association Regional Coaching Staff of the Year award in 2009, 2010 and 2016.

       Coach Clark has, in addition to her duties as a coach and as the Girls Athletic Coordinator at PHS, been an integral part of organizing multiple successful fundraisers for members of the PHS family and the Pearland community at large. Perennially, the she sees the majority of the Pearland Lady Oilers graduating senior student-athletes sign to play collegiate softball.

       About the Texas Girls Coaches Association

       The Texas Girls Coaches Association is one of the largest associations of coaches, and the largest association for coaches of girls' athletics in the United States. Established in 1953 with a membership of less than 100, it has grown to in excess of 7,000 members today and includes coaches and administrators in all levels of education. The governing body -- officers, directors, committee chairs -- are member coaches selected by TGCA members. The TGCA is sanctioned by the Texas University Interscholastic League although it is not a part of the UIL. TGCA honors athletes and coaches in all sports sanctioned by the UIL.
