How did Pearland ISD determine which projects would be proposed for a bond?

From November 2015 to May 2016, the Long-Range Planning Community Advisory Committee met to envision the future of education in Pearland ISD.

The committee comprised a cross-section of the district: approximately 50 community leaders, parents, teachers and students. Committee members toured campuses, talked with district and campus staff, heard expert presentations (facility condition assessments, demographics, finance and technology) and sought feedback from the community.

In addition, district administration, principals and maintenance staff provided the board of trustees with input on the district’s current facility and program needs.

The work of all these individuals built on multiple facility and demographic studies completed over the past three years.

The Long-Range Planning Community Advisory Committee identified numerous projects district-wide and made its recommendation to the board of trustees during the May 24 meeting.

After considering these recommendations, trustees unanimously called for the $220 million bond election during their Aug. 9 meeting.
